Yao is a director at Towers Watson. He joined Towers Watson in 2012.
Prior to joining Towers Watson, Yao was the Group Manager of Product Research and Development in Mercury Insurance Group for four and a half years, and before that he was a Product Development Manager at Progressive for a total of five and a half years.
Yao has ten years of experience in Property and Casualty insurance product pricing and general management and fifteen years of experience in applications of predictive modeling and statistical analysis in insurance areas including Underwriting, Claims and Marketing, and other industries.
Yao’s main areas of expertise include:
Product design, development, pricing and management
Underwriting process automation and optimization
Monitoring and improving claims operation
Analyzing agents behavior, evaluating agent incentive program, strategizing effective agent appointment program
Enterprise data warehouse design and creation that enables effective business analytics
Develop and Execute strategies for establishing and growing direct channel.
Yao has a PhD degree in Statistics from University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Peking University. Yao is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
